SLIDING GATES
How to Measure
Measuring for your new sliding gate is actually a very simple process.
Simply take a measurement of your opening.
Please note:
** If you are replacing the posts, take a measurement of the whole opening width and reduce size by the width of the posts. For example: Opening width of 3m 460mm minus 2x posts (at 100mm wide each) = 3m 260mm.
For a sliding gate to work, an overhang of 800mm is required. This is to hold the gate upright whilst opening/ closing.
So, your sliding gate width will be “opening width” + 800mm.
For example, if opening width = 3m 420mm (+ 800mm overhang) then the width is 4m 220mm.
If ordering online and exact measurement not offered. Reduce to closest size. Want it exact? No problem, call our team to order – 0800 6124 965.
MADE IN THE UK
Expertly Crafted by Hand
All of our gates are expertly crafted by hand in the UK using time served construction techniques. Unlike others, we do not pin our gates together. We use a traditional framing method. Mortise and tenon joints, along with dowels, are a traditional woodworking technique that provide strong and durable connections between frame members. Combining these joints in a wooden frame enhances stability and longevity. When it comes to securing the cladding to the frame, we only use stainless steel screws. Standard screws will rust leading to the gate’s structure to fail over time. Hardwood is a lot more of a stable timber compared to softwood but will expand and shrink during different stages throughout the year. This is completely normal. To protect this, we rebate the inner legs of the gate. This allows the cladding to expand and contract without causing any damage to the frame and without it being noticeable when looking at the gate.
Finish is in the detail. Routered detailing to the edges of the gate, creating a more polished and refined appearance. This decorative touch enhances the overall visual appeal of the gate, making it stand out as a well-crafted and finished piece.
We welcome and encourage our customers to come and visit our factory and see gates being produced for themselves.

MANUAL OR ELECTRIC
Sliding Gate Kit
Designed for electric or manual sliding gates.
Complete kit that includes track, “U” rail, support post (with nylon rollers) and receiving posts.
How much room do I need for a sliding gate?
For a sliding gate vto fully open, you need opening width plus the overhang.
Example: If you have an opening of 3m, the space required to fully open would be 3m + 800mm overhang.
Why does the gate need an overhang?
Overhangs are required to hold the gate upright whilst opening/ closing. The support post connects to the overhang via “U” rail.
Does the sliding gate come as one gate?
No. For most the gate comes in two sections. One section will include the overhang. The gate just bolt together on site. This is due to the sheer weight of the gate and the logistics of moving something so big.
Can the overhang be smaller?
The overhang needs to be 800mm for the support post to connect to.
How does the track fix to the ground?
As standard, we supply concrete in tracks. Visibly, these are better than bolt down tracks. We can supply bolt down tracks on request.
