Included with your Gate:
Gate Furniture Included (hinges etc): 4 x adjustable hinges, connecting hinges, hinge pins, latch and drop bolts included with each gate. As standard, the position of the hinge will be 6″ (150mm) from the bottom edge of gate and 6″ (150mm) from top edge of gate. If you require these to be different (if for example you already have pins set into a post/ pillar), please call us.
How to Measure
There are two ways that you can mount your metal driveway gates, inner face of the posts/pillars or on rear face of the posts/ pillars. Most people opt to have the gate hung using the inner face method (option 1 below).
Simply take three horizontal measurements between your existing posts/ pillars. One across top, one middle and one from the bottom. Make note of the SMALLEST width. Then reduce the size depending on which set up you choose.
Option 1
This set up needs 20mm between post and gate edge and 10mm gap between each gate. Therefore, the total to be reduced would be 70mm (or 60mm for a 3 leaf gate).
For example on a four leaf gate:
If you have measured your gap between the posts and have a width of 3m 200mm the gate width required would be 3m 130mm (3m 200mm – 70mm hinge gap allowance).
Option 2
Gate hinges are mounted to the inner face of the posts (facing each other). This produces a larger gap of 70mm between post and gate edge (either side). The gap between each gate leaf is 10mm.

Hinge Mounting Options
Option 1 (free with gate)
Included free with gate. Hinge pin plates with adjustable bolts. These can be attached to existing walls, timber posts or metal posts.
Please note: As we do not know what material these plates are being connected to, fixings are not included.
Option 2
Purchase new metal posts from us with your gate. The posts will have the hinge pins welded to them. Due to the sheer weight of metal gates, these posts are designed to be fitted in the ground. As standard, the position of the hinge will be 6″ (150mm) from the bottom edge of gate and 6″ (150mm) from top edge of gate. The colour of your metal posts will match the colour you have chosen for the gate.
Option 3
Your posts or pillars already have pins in place. We can manufacture your new gate so that it can drop directly on to existing gate pins. Please call our team to order (0800 6124 965). They will explain in detail what measurements we need to take.
