HOW TO MEASURE FOR FARM/ FIELD GATES:
Calculating gate width with existing pillars or posts in place.
Take THREE measurements between the pillars/ posts. Across the top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the SMALLEST measurement.
There are different reductions to make depending on the farm/ field gate style and how you are going to mount the hinges (either on rear of post or internal face).
Figure 1: This set up is for a double leaf farm/ field gate. As the hinges are mounted to the rear of the post, the only reduction that is required is where the gate meets to open/ close. Gate opens inwards towards property.
Therefore, reduce lowest measurement by 10mm.
Figure 2: This set up is for a single leaf farm/ field gate. As the hinges are mounted to the rear of the post you do not need to reduce any size from your lowest measurement. Gate opens inwards towards property.
Figure 3: This set up is for a double leaf farm/ field gate. The hinges are mounted to the inner face of the posts. This allows the gate to open both ways.
Reduce 250mm (approx. 10″) from your lowest measurement.
Figure 4: This set up is for a single leaf farm/ field gate automated. The hinges are mounted to the inner face of the posts. This allows the gate to open both ways.
Reduce 130mm (approx. 5 1/5″) from your lowest measurement.
