Building Regulations for Metal Balustrades
None of our balustrade designs have bars more than 99mm apart. As per building regs, we recommend a height of 1100mm if drop to floor is more than 600mm (raised decking, balconies etc). If purchasing bolt to ground posts this would be a balustrade height of 1000mm (as ground floor to bottom edge of balustrade is 100mm). For inerior balustrades, overall height should be between 900mm and 1000mm.
Mounting Options
Metal balustrades can be mounted various ways. We offer a range of posts and fixings to cover all methods.
Hard Ground Surface
The most popular is using metal bolt down posts and securing to a hard ground surface (such as slabs, timber decking, composite decking, top of walls or concrete). Posts are secured using 4 fixings (such as coach screws).
Mounted to Face of Wall
For raised platforms or balconies. Metal posts are secured to the face of the wall. We offer different post types for this method, straight, cranked or straight with crank. This allows the balustrades to sit flush with wall or inset from wall. Straight with crank post allows for any overhang you may have from slabs etc.
Soft Ground Surface
For grass and soil, longer posts are supplied. These are then dug into the ground and concreted to secure (using products such as postcrete).
Between Existing Wall/ Posts
Already have something in place? If so, simply order the metal balustrades without posts. “L” brackets will be supplied to connect the balustrade to your existing area.
