Product information
Description
Expertly crafted by hand in the UK to any size. Constructed using our “Premium Frame” system for durability and performance. 10 year workmanship warranty against all welds. Standard powder coat finish included in black (matt or gloss), anthracite grey or white. Different colour? We can finish your metal balustrades in any RAL colour!
Our metal balustrades are designed for exterior or interior use. Multiple mounting options. Between existing wall/ posts, bolt to ground posts, in ground posts (for grass etc) or bolt to face of wall (for raised platforms etc). Please see below for more information.
As standard, gap between ground level and bottom of balustrade is 100mm (4″). If you need this lower or higher, please call our team on 0800 6124 965 to order.
How to Measure
Each balustrade has a maximum of 20mm adjustment. Obviously, the panel has to be smaller than the gap to fit (up to 20mm smaller).
Measuring for a run with posts:
Take a measurement of the complete area from edge to edge. Then, calculate width by number of balustrades.
1x Balustrade: Total area minus 80mm (for 2x posts) = balustrade width.
2x Balustrades: Total area minus 120mm (for 3x posts) divided by 2 = each balustrade width.
3x Balustrades: Total area minus 160mm (for 4x posts) divided by 3 = each balustrade width.
4x Balustrades: Total area minus 200mm (for 5x posts) divided by 4 = each balustrade width.
5x Balustrades: Total area minus 240mm (for 6x posts) divided by 5 = each balustrade width.
And so on.
Please note: Over a run with multiple balustrades we would recommend reducing the width by a minimum 20mm overall to ensure it will fit. Each balustrade has 20mm adjustment but if too big, simply will not fit!
Specification

INNER VERTICAL BARS | 40mm x 10mm |

Fixing Points
Pre tapped holes in the 4 corners. Balustrade attaches to “L” brackets (if mounting between existing wall/ posts), or, balustrade will attach to pre welded lugs on metal posts (if purchasing posts with your order).
Building Regulations for Metal Balustrades
None of our balustrade designs have bars more than 99mm apart. As per building regs, we recommend a height of 1100mm if drop to floor is more than 600mm (raised decking, balconies etc). If purchasing bolt to ground posts this would be a balustrade height of 1000mm (as ground floor to bottom edge of balustrade is 100mm). For inerior balustrades, overall height should be between 900mm and 1000mm.
Mounting Options
Various ways our metal balustrades can be mounted. Most popular is on posts either bolted down to ground (for example on concrete or pavers) or in the ground (on grass).
If purchasing metal posts with the balustrades, lugs will be pre welded to the posts ready to fix the balustrade to the post. There are three different post types. Start/ end post, centre/ run post and corner post. These are all available as bolt down posts or below ground posts.
Bolt to Ground
Most popular set up. Each post has pre welded base plates with 4 holes for fixing to flat surface (concrete, timber, composite etc). Fixings to connect balustrade to post are included. Fixings to connect post to floor are not included as floor surface material differs for each customer.
Mounted to Face
Used for raised levels (such as balconies, raised platforms etc). Metal post is fixed to the face of the wall. Option to have straight or cranked posts.
Posts in Ground
Grass, gravel etc. Metal posts are provided longer with no base plates. Hole is dug and metal post is placed in hole and fixed using postcrete (or similar).
How to Fit Metal Balustrades
Our range of metal balustrades have been designed so that any competent DIY’er can save money by installing it themselves.
Fitting guide for securing bolt down metal posts to hard surface such as timber or composite decking, paving slabs, concrete etc for metal balustrades or railings.
Position first post. Mark holes and carefully drill suitable hole for fixings. We recommend starting with a pilot hole then move to correct drill size. Fixings to secure post to ground are not included.
Ensure post is level and secure post using your selected fixings. Measure distance to the second post, level, drill and fix. The distance between the posts can be up to 20mm wider than the ballustrade but for finished look, try not to have a gap of more than 10mm (5mm per side).
To make fitting easier, place balustrade between posts on packers (100mm high) and clamp.
Using fixings supplied, fix balustrade to posts (one fixing per corner).

Yes. Not all width’s are the same. You can order online to the millimeter. Minimum width 500mm to a maximum width of 1m 830mm.
If mounting between wall, “L” brackets will be included. Each side has approx 20mm adjustment.
Finish. Choice of black, white or anthracite grey. For a longer lasting finish, we recommend upgrading finish to “Longlife”.
Our long life system provides the ultimate protection against rust and chips. The gates are sand blasted after production then a zinc primer is applied followed by a smoother, thicker top coat.
Our standard finish will scratch and chip easier resulting in more maintenance and a higher risk of rust spots forming.
We are able to paint any railing in any RAL colour. RAL colours are coded so by providing us with the RAL code we can finish your railings to your chosen colour.
