Abbeywood Hardwood Driveway Gates

£1,325.00

Driveway gates that really “make an entrance”. Expertly crafted to any width or height using the finest, hand selected Iroko hardwood timber. Deep, natural tones that truly enhance the look of the finished gate. Extremely durable and aesthetically pleasing. Constructed using traditional, time served techniques such as mortise, tenon and dowel jointed frames. Installation available on this gate.

  • Actual gate width for both sides added together.

    TO CALCULATE GATE WIDTH:

Take three horizontal measurements between existing posts or pillars.

Reduce lowest measurement by 40mm (1 1/2").  Find the closest size on the drop down list and select the next size lower.

    WIDTH*

Total width of all gates added together.

    HEIGHT*

Taken to the highest point of the gate. We recommend leaving a gap of 25mm (1") clearance between the bottom edge of the gate and ground level.

    HORN DESIGN*

Change the design on the side and centre gate horns.

    FINISH OPTIONS

Professionally finished. Please note. Colour may look slightly different on the gate due to screen settings. We do offer free samples on request. To order your free sample, please contact us.

    Please enter RAL colour code.

    ENTER RAL COLOUR CODE*

    POSTS

All posts are 8ft (2m 440mm) in length. Sold online in pairs. If you require single posts, please call to order.

    HINGE SET

Available in either galvanised or galvanised and black finish. Heavy duty adjustable gate hinge set which includes hinges, drop bolts, brenton bolt, latch and fixings (for gate only). For gates over 10ft wide, we recommend our 36" adjustable set.

All hinge sets come with a 5 yr guarantee.

ADDING AUTOMATION NOW OR IN THE FUTURE?

Extra support for the gate is needed if planning on automating your gates. This is due to the force of the automation to the gate. Standard rails (over time) will fail. Add either a solid middle rail if attaching automation arms to middle of the gate (also know as above ground automation), or bottom middle rail if using underground automation.

    AUTOMATION KITS

Supplied to us by BFT, one of the most reliable automation manufacturers out there. All kits come complete with a 2 year manufacturers guarantee.

     *

  • Add your house name or house number and road name to your gate. Engraved into the top section of the gate. We use both sides of the gate to do this. For example, if your house was called "Lavender Cottage", Lavender would be on the left side and Cottage on the right side.

As looking from front of gate, enter text on left (and/ or) right side.

    Left Side (front of gate)

    Right Side (front of gate)

Description

When it comes to creating Hardwood Driveway Gates, you can’t beat the effects that Iroko produces. A beautiful, natural hardwood that’s elegant and smooth, highly durable and has a density level of 660kg/m3 making it an extremely strong and long lasting. Iroko is even used for canal locks proving its long lasting features. All of our hardwood driveway gates are expertly crafted by hand in the UK using time served construction techniques such as mortise, tennon and dowel jointed frames. This creates a truly stunning looking driveway gate that is designed to last for many years.

Available Sizes:

  • Width: from 6ft (each side 3ft) to a massive 20ft (each side 10ft)
  • Height: from 3ft to 7ft – taken to the highest point of the gate
  • Made to Measure – all gates online can be purchased to the nearest inch, if you do require a more precise size, please contact us. (Unlike others – there is NO additional cost for bespoke, we simply base price on the next size!).

How to Measure: Calculating the actual width required of a wooden driveway gate is easy…just follow these simple steps below.

  1. Take three measurements between existing pillars or posts.
  2. Reduce the LOWEST size by 40mm (or approx 1.5″)
  3. That’s it! The size left after the reduction is the gate width required. Online, we offer gate width’s to the nearest inch, simply select the closest size (lower) from the drop down menu – or call to order for an exact width.

Please note: If no pillars or posts on there, measure the opening and reduce by 2 x posts. Gates up to 10ft wide should use 100mm x 100mm (4″ x 4″) posts, over 10ft use 150mm x 150mm (6″ x 6″) posts.

Measuring for Automated Gates: For above ground automation, rear hung on the back of the posts take the smallest measurement and reduce by 50mm (this will give you the actual gate size to order). For above ground automation, hung in the centre of the posts take the smallest measurement and reduce by 150mm (this will give you the actual gate size to order). For below ground automation, rear hung on the back of the posts take the smallest measurement and plus 20mm (this will give you the actual gate size to order). For below ground automation, rear hung in the centre of the posts take the smallest measurement and reduce by 240mm (this will give you the actual gate size to order).

Please note: Images are used to show the style of gate and have been computer generated. A Sample of wood used in construction is available on request. Width advertised is total width of gate. For example, if you select a width of 9ft, you will receive 2 leafs at 4ft 6″. Height is taken to the highest point of gate. Rear view design can differ from image shown depending on the width of gate and/ or height.

How to Measure

Calculating gate width with existing pillars or posts in place.

Take THREE measurements between the pillars/ posts. Across the top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the SMALLEST measurement.

How to measure driveway gate width

To determine what clearance is needed to calculate gate width, you must decide how the gate will open. The first example is by far the most popular set up.

REDUCE 40mm (approx. 1.5″) from your lowest measurement.

Why Choose Us?

We are UK’s largest bespoke gate manufacturer. All of our gates are expertly crafted by hand in the UK (not imported from abroad) using traditional, time served construction techniques. Great care and pride is taken to each and every one of our gates to ensure our customers gate is something they can be proud of.

What makes us different?

Compared to our competitors…a lot! Within manufacturing process. Deeper frames and thicker cladding to aid longevity of the gate. Traditional mortise, tenon and dowel jointed frames combined with the use of high grade, PVA adhesive to ensure frames are locked and secured in place. Hidden stainless steel screws to hold the cladding boards in position (not nailed in), and being hidden, increases kerb appeal. To help prevent the gate from moving and twisting, the frames are rebated to let the cladding expand and contract without effecting the gate structure. Finer details are applied such as smooth, routered edges and “V” groove joints to enhance the overall look of the gate. All of our gates can be purchased online to the nearest inch or call our team for an exact width measurement.

The process

So you’ve picked your gate, selected your sizes and ordered it online (or over the phone)…what happens next? Something we are quite proud of (and our customers love!). Once a customer has ordered and paid for their gate they go into our notification system. Customers are notified on every step during the gate production process via email and/ or text message. This includes when it’s in being cut, put together, QC (quality control), finish and delivery. Each of our production departments have scanners. Once they scan a product, the customer is notified of the update immediately.

Delivery

If you’ve ordered a smaller gate, a one man delivery service is used. For larger gates, a two man service is used. In any case, the customer does not need to help during delivery as we have it covered. You’ll be given a delivery date and time slot closer to the time. Feel free to call us and arrange alternative dates if needed.

The gate will arrive extremely well wrapped. ALL packaging used is fully recyclable so please dispose of this correctly.
