Measuring for your new gate is actually a very simple process.
If existing posts/ pillars are in place, take three horizontal measurements. Top, middle and bottom as shown below.
Make a note of the SMALLEST width.
** If you are replacing the posts, take a measurement of the whole opening width and reduce size by the width of the posts. For example: Opening width of 3m 460mm minus 2x posts (at 100mm wide each) = 3m 260mm.
Next, decide how the gate will hang and reduce width accordingly. The is by far the most popular option. Gate hinges are mounted to the rear of post. A gap of 15mm between edge of gap and post (each side) and a centre gap of 10mm for opening/ closing.
Reduce 40mm off your smallest measurement (from “Step 1”).
If ordering online and exact measurement not offered. Reduce to closest size. Want it exact? No problem, call our team to order – 0800 6124 965.

We recently installed a bow top driveway gate, and it has truly transformed the entrance to my home. The design is not only charming but adds a touch of elegance to the overall aesthetic. The gate’s construction is robust, and the bow detailing enhances its visual appeal.Living in an area with diverse weather conditions, the gate has held up remarkably well. The materials used seem durable and resistant to the elements. The paint finish has maintained its vibrancy, adding to the gate’s longevity.

Let down by delivery company. They delivered the gate but lost one post! Contacted Gates and Fences who were quick to solve the issue. Gate itself looks like it’s made to a high quality but reduced the rating due to delivery.

A very good company to deal with. They questioned something on my order and as a result of their advice a small change was made to the gate width at no extra cost or delay. They can supply an almost limitless permutation of height/width – something the competitors do not offer. Gates were made and delivered with commendable speed. I purchased the cheapest softwood gates and have primed and painted them. There were a few more knots in the tongue-and-groved vertical infill wood than I was expecting, but for me that just required a bit more preparation before priming. Hardwood gates probably do not have this problem. Nevertheless, the gates are good value, sturdy, and seem to be very well put together.
