The Butterleigh. Modern flat top design with feature horizontal black metal bars. Constructed using the finest, slow grown Redwood Pine. Expertly crafted by hand in the UK using traditional, time served construction techniques. Featuring double jointed mortise, tenon and dowel frames. Crafted to any width with a choice of available heights.

Please note, posts, hinges, finish etc are optional extras and are not included with the gate unless selected at purchase.

Available Sizes:

Width: from 6ft (each side 3ft) to 16ft (each side 8ft)
Height: from 3ft to 6ft – taken to the highest point of the gate
Made to Measure – all gates online can be purchased to the nearest inch, if you do require a more precise size, please contact us. (Unlike others – there is NO additional cost for bespoke, we simply base price on the next size!).

Note: Due to gate design the hinges must be bolted through the gate using a domed coach bolt (one per hinge). For larger open panelled gate designs we would also recommend using a jockey wheel to help support the weight.

How to Measure

Calculating gate width with existing pillars or posts in place.

Take THREE measurements between the pillars/ posts. Across the top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the SMALLEST measurement.

To determine what clearance is needed to calculate gate width, you must decide how the gate will open. The first example is by far the most popular set up.

Gates to open towards driveway. Hinge plates mounted to rear face of post/ pillar. Back edge of gate sits flush with the back edge of post/ pillar.

REDUCE 40mm (approx. 1.5″) from your lowest measurement.

FIGURE 2:

Gates to open towards driveway. Hinge plates mounted to inside face of post/ pillar. Front edge of gate sits flush with the front edge of post/ pillar.

REDUCE 150mm (6″) from your lowest measurement.

Gates to open outwards toward roadside. Hinge plates mounted to outside front face of post/ pillar. Front edge of gate sits flush with the front edge of post/ pillar. This is a good set up to do if your driveway space is limited. If your gate opens over a public footpath, please check with your local council if permission is required.

Delivery

All products are made on order. As such, delivery times can go up and down depending on order volume. We delivery across the whole of the UK (mainland only – please call if Isle of Wight etc).

Wooden Gates (inc Garage Doors): Week commencing 8th of Janurary. (If adding a stain or paint finish, please allow a further 5 days.)

Composite Gates: Week commencing 22nd of January.

Metal and Metal Infill Gates: Week commencing 22nd of January.

Metal Railings and Ballustrades: Week commencing 22nd of January.

Fence Panels: 7 to 14 days

Accessories (automation kits, intercoms etc): 1 to 2 working days.
