Manufactured by hand in the UK by skilled craftsmen using the finest materials to provide ultimate durability and quality. All of our metal bifold driveway gates come complete with a 10 year workmanship guarantee, adjustable hinges, lockable handle and drop bolts. Constructed using our Premium Frame, which includes chunkier 40mm x 40mm side and bottom rail and thicker 16mm diameter infill bars resulting in a much sturdier and higher quality appearance gate.

Bi-fold gates are a great solution for those with limited return access where standard, double opening gates won’t work. We have two set-up otions available, centre opening (where two leafs are connected and fold either side) or single opening where one leaf folds one side and the other three leafs fold opposite (see below).

How to Measure

Calculating gate width with existing pillars or posts in place.

Take THREE measurements between the pillars/ posts. Across the top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the SMALLEST measurement.

To determine what clearance is needed to calculate gate width, you must decide where the gate hinges will be mounted.

OPTION 1:

The most popular way is the hinges being placed on the back. This allows a smaller gap between the post and the gate edge so therefore looks better.

How to Measure Metal Bi-fold Driveway Gates

This set up needs 20mm between post and gate edge and 10mm gap between each gate. Therefore, the total to be reduced would be 70mm (or 60mm for a 3 leaf gate).

For example on a four leaf gate:

If you have measured your gap between the posts and have a width of 3m 200mm the gate width required would be 3m 130mm (3m 200mm - 70mm hinge gap allowance).

OPTION 2:

Gate hinges are mounted to the inner face of the posts (facing each other). This produces a larger gap of 70mm between post and gate edge (either side). The gap between each gate leaf is 10mm.

Set-up options

Option 1: Centre Opening

Like a standard double gate, open’s from the centre. Two gate leaf’s fold to one side and the same the opposite side. As standard, all gates are designed to open in (towards the property).

Option 2: Pedestrian Opening

One leaf (either side) opens with the other three leaf’s folding to the opposite side. This is a great option if wanting to allow easy pedestrian access. As standard, all gates are designed to open in (towards the property).

How to install bi-fold gates

Any competent DIYer is able to fit there manual bi-fold gate, we do recommend professional installation if having automation.

Any powder coat finish being either the standard primer finish or the long life option will need regular maintenance. We would expect to see over a period of time rusting around the welds due to tiny little air holes in the weld itself, allowing water in and rust staining out. We would also expect to see rust and rust staining where any screws or fixings have been used. The reason for this is where the fixing goes into the hole it can damage the paint where it has gone through leaving bare metal exposed. Rust can also appear where there is damage, chips or scratches on the metal.

It is important to regularly clean the metal down with warm soapy water and where needed sand down and touch up the frame with metal paint over any rust spots and areas. This will help with the longevity of your product and keep it looking its best.

Pleased with our new bi-fold gates. Workmanship is high quality. Waited around 4 weeks from start to finish but worth the wait.

Pros:

Easy to order using guides on website.

Cons:

Delivery was "am" or "pm". Would have been better with an hour slot.

We ordered a new front gate and side gate from Gates and Fences and are very happy with the results. Good communication throughout to make sure we ordered the correct sizes and the gates arrived swiftly upon accepting the quote.

I ordered on line at the weekend but had some questions that I raised on the order. I got a phone call on Monday am. this answered my questions and suggested a slight change to the order. This was cleared through by E-mail same day. Next day it entered production and arrived well packed on Friday. Quality seems great. Gates fitted easily and we have had many positive comments. Impressive service!

Our fitter sourced our new driveway gates from gates and fences. He has used them before and informed us of the quality. Nervously, we agreed. We didn’t see the gates before our fitters had finished. Now they’re up we are over the moon. I’m not a carpenter but can see the work that’s gone into them. Really happy with our fitter and the manufacturer.

Wow – what a great product and unbelievable customer service. From order to delivery was less than 10 days with detailed text status at every stage of the production and shipment. The online guidance regarding measuring was very clear and easy to follow. Now the driveway gates are installed they actually look better than I anticipated. Shipment packaging was seriously robust too. Will definitely be using again for my garden gates.
