Working out the required gate size:To work out the size of the gates take the opening width you have (between pillars/posts) and deduct the following to allow for hinges. This is assuming the gates are to be opening inwards.

3 x leafs minus 60mm from opening size
4 x leafs minus 70mm from opening size
5 x leafs minus 80mm from opening size
6 x leafs minus 90mm from opening size

The above measurements allow 20mm clearance between the edge of gate and post/pillars, 10mm between 2 leafs attached with a strap hinge and 10mm for the clearance in the middle of the gates (where the two gates close in the middle).

Gate Furniture:

Included FREE of charge: 4 x Adjustable Hinges (and Hinge Pins),hinges on all bi fold gates, opening latch and 4 x drop bolts. As standard, the position of the hinge pin will be 6″ (150mm) from top and bottom of the gate. If you require these at a different measurement (for example, pins already set in pillars), please call to order.

How to Measure

Calculating gate width with existing pillars or posts in place.

Take THREE measurements between the pillars/ posts. Across the top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the SMALLEST measurement.

To determine what clearance is needed to calculate gate width, you must decide how the gate will open. The first example is by far the most popular set up.

FIGURE 1: (most popular set up)

Gates to open towards driveway. Hinge plates mounted to rear face of post/ pillar. Back edge of gate sits flush with the back edge of post/ pillar.

For a 3 leaf gate reduce 60mm (2 1/4″) from your lowest measurement.

For a 4 leaf gate reduce 70mm (approx. 2 4/5″) from your lowest measurement.

For a 5 leaf gate reduce 80mm (approx. 3 1/4″) from your lowest measurement.

Please note: Figure 1 shows the centre leaf opening to the left. This could also open to the right by fitting the hinge to the right leaf.

For a 3 leaf gate reduce 160mm (6 2/5″) from your lowest measurement.

For a 5 leaf gate reduce 180mm (approx. 7 1/4″) from your lowest measurement.

DELIVERY TIMES

All products are made on order. As such, delivery times can go up and down depending on order volume. We delivery across the whole of the UK (mainland only – please call if Isle of Wight etc).

Wooden Gates (inc Garage Doors): Monday 7th October to Friday 11th October. (Additional 5 - 10 working days if paint/ stain is added.)

Composite Gates: Monday 21st October to Friday 25th October.

Metal and Metal Infill Gates: Monday 21st October to Friday 25th October.

Metal Railings and Ballustrades: Monday 21st October to Friday 25th October.

Fence Panels: 7 to 14 days
