Measuring for your new gate is actually a very simple process.
If existing posts/ pillars are in place, take three horizontal measurements. Top, middle and bottom as shown below.
Make a note of the SMALLEST width.
** If you are replacing the posts, take a measurement of the whole opening width and reduce size by the width of the posts. For example: Opening width of 1m 260mm minus 2x posts (at 50mm wide each) = 1m 160mm.
Next, decide how the gate will hang and reduce width accordingly. The is by far the most popular option.
Option 1: Gate hanging on the rear of posts/ pillars. Main advantage of this set up is the reduced gap that is visible between the gate edge and post.
To calculate gate width: Take the lowest measurement and reduce by 50mm (2″).
Option 2: Gate mounted in alley way or similar.
This set up example would be used if placing the gate in an alley way or similar. The allowance on the hinge side is greater and does create a visible see through section.
Reduce 100mm (or 4″) from your lowest measurement.
Please note: If purchasing metal posts with your gate, hinge pins will be welded to the post. If not, we supply hinge pin plates for you to fix to existing posts/ pillars.

Produced using our “Premium” frame system. The depth, thickness and quality of materials used in the construction of metal framed composite gates is a key factor on how the gate will look and perform. We only use the finest steel that’s thicker than many of our competitors. This ultimately produces a long lasting gate that really does “make an entrance”.
